As part of "Bringing Contemporary American Music to a Community Orchestra" the Orchestra commissioned Daniel Pesca, Eastman School of Music Assistant Professor of Composition, to write a composition for string orchestra and soprano. The new composition "Circe" will premier in a concert on November 6 in the Pittsford Community Library, 6:30 pm. Preceding the concert, 5:30 pm, Daniel and soprano soprano Tyler Cassidy-Heacock will discuss the creative process. "Circe" is based on a poem by Hilda Doolittle and brings to life the enchantress from Greek mythology and her struggle with love and loss.

This was a very unique and trying year for the Irondequoit Community Orchestra. Like so many other musical arts groups, COVID-19 impacted us more than anyone could have thought imaginable. Regardless, those of us in the group who felt safe and comfortable enough made a great effort to keep the orchestra going with outdoor rehearsals and practicing proper safe distancing. Here are some snapshots from the past year. With vaccinations and lower infection rates in the future, we look forward to being able to continue to grow and develop the organization in the upcoming year. his was a very unique and trying year for the Irondequoit Community Orchestra.
